The current economic doldrums were, in part, initially caused by ancollapse of the housing market. This, in turn, was caused by an unsecured home mortgage scam. Baron and I went for a hike yesterday to see if there were any signs of recovery. A trip through a fine wooded area did show some definite signs of new housing.
Mr. and Mrs. Pileated T Woodpecker are the proud new residents.
:) Well tell them we all said welcome to the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteI love woodpeckers and have a couple of flickers who visit my house regularly. Glad to know you've got some in your neighborhood. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis will be fun to watch more of. I went looking for a pair i have watched and saw no sign.
ReplyDeleteI think blogger is fixed with their comment problems finally.
I'm sure they will be very interesting neighbours.
ReplyDeletebetter in a tree than in our power pole! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive housing news, TB--perhaps other critters are smarter than humans, building just what they need and no more :>). I also enjoyed your photos and account of spring biking.
ReplyDeleteIt's always wonderful to see something good come from fallen branches. Glad you noticed it and shared with us.
ReplyDeleteNow that's using their noggins! Ever wonder if they get headaches?
ReplyDeleteThey always say it's about location, location, location! Glad they found this cool new homestead!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. :) My husband and I stumbled upon a red-bellied woodpecker nest a while back. Although we intended to return, it's been brutally hot & the fledgelings are probably out and about by now, anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteIn one of our parks in the city, some sweet anonymous carpenter made a whole bunch of bird houses and fixed them to trees. Some very lovely low income housing for any little birds that needed it. :)
You know I love the birds!!
