Here in the small fishing village of Cedar Key, which is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida's Big Bend," we're settled in quite nicely in our cottage on the bayou. The locals are a little uptight about the recent cold snap but for us the nighttime temps in the low forties make for good snuggling weather and daytime sixties means lots of hikes and photography.
enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI think cold is relative to where you are at. I've been chilly lately in Texas, but thankful I'm not up at Tamarac NWR this time of the year. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a far cry from what you'd be having at home this time of year. That must seem downright balmy for you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Thanks for taking the time to say hello. Wondering where you two landed. Have a wonderful vacation.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, Trout! :)
ReplyDeleteSon of a gun, I hope you have some fun on that bayou.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing more about this great trip, TB. :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time at Cedar Key... It's a perfect time to be there .. Better stay til about April!!!!! ha
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous area of west FL.
Hugs,
Betsy
Yes, this southerner finds temps below the 40s really challenging. Hope the southern hospitality is still warm even if weather isn't.
ReplyDeleteAre you fishing, Trout-Birder? Sounds like you and the Mrs. find yourself in a lovely spot. I agree about the temps, anything above 30 is balmy to me.

So you're finishing what I started 3 years ago, actually getting there to FL. Good job, TB.
ReplyDeleteThere you are! Have a great time - I'll be waiting to see all the photos you take!
ReplyDeleteSounds idyllic despite the weather. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the "like" button? :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your trip report!
About five inches of snow last night and headed to the deep freeze again in a couple of days. Enjoy the sunshine while you can, looking forward to seeing what birds you find:)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHow nice you have such a great attitude about the nippy weather in Fla. Still, it is much better than where you came from. Enjoy those awesome sunsets.
ReplyDeleteSounds like bliss!!
ReplyDeleteNice that you are away from the biting cold in the north. Your cottage sounds warm and cozy -- you might drag your feet when it is time to leave??? -- barbara
ReplyDeleteI'm excited that you are at Cedar Key. If you ask around you will surely be led to Teri DuLong. She is an author who I met through blogging and actually visited with back in 2007 (I think it was.) If you meet her please say "Hi" from me.
ReplyDeleteHello Troutbirder,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on Have Fly Rod, Will Wait. Seems your in Cedar key at the moment. As I recall that's in the armpit of Florida and is responsible for many of the pencils us senior citizens grew up with. I trust you're enjoying being in the land of liquid water.
As for me, I haven't impaled myself in over a week. Huzzah! Am reading Halberstam's book on the Korean War. Sounds like something you might be reading.
Your blog is a good read. Keep up the good work.

ReplyDeleteEven here on the Shore, we are preparing for a major SNOW... yep, SNOW! It was 50 at noon today, tomorrow the temps are supposed to be only in the upper teens! YIKES! Sounds like your HOME temps.
So ENJOY!
School closed 3 hrs early even tho it has not started snowing yet. Go figure! I can hear you laughing all the way up here.
Florida is def. a good place to be in view of all the nasty weather here up north. Have fun!
ReplyDeletedo enjoy the hikes and photography and cozy evenings on the bayou! hoping you'll share some of the photos when you return.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like great fun. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you -- can't wait for the photos -- barbara
