Out and About With Miss Lily

Our adopted GSD Miss Lily is adjusting  well from her unfettered free range life on the farm to a more regulated life here in suburbia. This means, though we have an “invisible fence system,” she requires long hikes on a daily basis. She even “helps” Troutbirder on his birding outings. Take a look……

"No Lily, mooching on the deck is not allowed!"
"Hey Ladies, at least the snow is finally gone from the woods. Lets head up the trail to see if the beaver have rebuilt their dam from last years flood." This in Forestville State Park.
"Sure enough. The Army Corps of Engineers has nothing on these guys...."
"Time to start heading back up the trail, Ladies."

Sometimes other people join us for hikes. Here brother in law Bill comes along as we check out a prairie burn at Lake Louise State Park.
And Mrs. T's nephew Ray Jr. with wife Ann join us on a trail in the deep woods.

"Hey Troutbirder, with all this hiking you got us way tired out...."

  3. Great walks and great walking partners. We've not been brave enough to take the Golden Retriever out for a hike yet.

  14. No wonder she has adjusted so well to being fettered. You take her such neat places. Isn't hiking so much more fun with a dog? She is a beauty.

  18. I love hiking! One of my favorite pass times. If I can take my dogs and family it's even better. Unless the kids are fighting. Then what a headache!!!!

  20. Looks like Lily is adjusting well. What a gorgeous dog she is!!! Looks like she has you all out hiking more now. That is a good thing I'm sure...

Glad your snow is finally gone. We have had a fantastic spring week here in TN.

Pray for me tomorrow as I go through my surgery.

  21. What a fun day! This reminds me that since the beginning of spring I have been promising my Golden Retriever Sophie a trip to our local forest preserve to check out the trails. I've been so busy trying to get the garden cleaned up, no wonder she has been looking at me with such sad eyes:)
Your comment on my post about "Fur Elise" made me laugh. I used to play the piano decently when I was younger, but had no time for it when I was raising my family. I'm so rusty now that "Fur Elise" is one of the few songs I can still play without too many wrong notes:)

  22. I'm glad Miss Lily is a good companion on your hikes, although in the last photo it does look as if you wore her (and Mrs. T) out. I enjoyed your pictures.
