Brother In Law Bill

Bill is the outdoor physical fitness type and an avid biker.  He and his wife Candy also are serious "dog rescuers" usually keeping the maximum allowed by city law in Minneapolis.  Bill visited us a couple of weeks ago and the weather was glorious.  Naturally,
we took Lily our new GSD for some hikes and also went biking.....
The native prairie at Lake Louise State Park.  The next day Bill and I biked the Shooting Star Trail which partially runs through the same park. It was there a year ago last June that I crashed and burned. It was then that so enthralled by the spring wildflowers, the birds singing and the gorgeous views that I forgot I was biking, rolled to a stop and fell off my bike.  It's true. Anyway this was my first outing since then.
Bill with our bikes at the Shooting Star trailhead in the little town of Leroy. Not wanting to overdo it I put a halt to the ride at about the ten mile mark.  Heading back home Mrs. T. had a nice lunch ready for us.  Afterwards, leaving me in my easy chair, Bill headed off for a thirty plus mile ride on the Root River Trail.  That man is definitely an inspiration for my physical fitness program!

  6. Ten miles is amazing for your maiden voyage. So glad it was uneventful. My brother is like your BIL. Older than me but he and his wife log over 1000 miles on their bicycles each year.
Loved the fact that they are into rescue.

  8. Gone are the days when I went biking. I wouldn't trust myself to try it now. It is a way of keeping fit though so good for you in 'keeping at it'. Ten miles is better than none.

  10. Good for you! Great photos too!! Tell us more about how he rescues the dogs and how he does with them? I know some folks just have a gift with animals.

  12. Hubby and I recently bought new bikes and I have been loving it. I have to admit, the first day I forgot how to use the brakes and almost got T-boned. I was used to the brakes on the handlebars, but my new bike has the pedal brakes. Very scary. Be careful out there and enjoy! Love your photos!

  13. I'd say you have reason for being a little shy on the bike...but 10 miles?! For the first time out?! Hey, that's pretty good! Glad you got back on again.

  15. I think ten miles is quite a trek! Is the bike ride's objective mileage or observation? --- barbara

  16. Your title had me smiling from the start, as both of my sisters married guys named Bill - thus, two Brother-in-law Bills.
Ten miles is very impressive for your first time back on a bike in a year!

  18. The native prairie is appealing, a great place for inspiring exercise, even if engrossing distractions of that environment present danger of crashing. Glad you were up for a successful redo.

  19. Nowadays travelling is easy and can be carried out by the disabled persons also. Electric Wheelchair is easily available that are very comfortable to operate and people can find them in the internet at the reasonable price. These wheelchair doesn't need any external help to operate and can be smoothly operated.
