We were looking for a place that had room, privacy and was pet friendly and VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner) provided the answer. It was at the end of a long driveway with three acres surrounded by woods and one creek close to the Gulf. To our Minnesota eyes the woods looked more like a jungle though. Here Mrs. T. and Miss Lily are on the driveway ready for their early morning walk.
The front porch and the dock proves to be great spots for some relaxing birding and reading. Here our friends Gary and Rosie who joined us for a week joined in the action.
As to the birding, we counted almost thirty species from the front yard, flying over, swimming and wading by..... More to follow.
that sounds quite heavenly! what a great place to spend a winter month!
ReplyDeleteSounds, and looks, like a wonderful place. Especially with that dock.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to watch the birds from there!
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice to get home, but I think I would rather be in your old digs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And just what you were looking for! We love VRBO too.
ReplyDeleteWe hade great luck with VRBO but for the good ones not to expensive you have to reserve early in Florida...
DeleteI know how you feel, when got home from the Philippines several ago, I came home to 3 inches of snow. It sounds like you enjoyed your vacation. It looks like a double rainbow in the picture to me.
ReplyDeleteThat does look relaxing.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, sounds like a fun time and Miss Lily enjoyed it too! :)
ReplyDeleteYou've had a nice break from a Minnesota winter.
ReplyDeleteOh how I'll bet you hated going home!!! What a fantastic place you had ---and obviously it was a great month... I did hear from some friends in NORTHERN Minnesota --and they were complaining about not having near the snow this year that they usually have. Think the worst of the snow went to New England --at least this month... Hope you made/make it home safely.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
That place looks amazing! Hope the skeeters weren't bad.
ReplyDeleteNo bugs at all but several of those geckos that sell insurance crawling up the screens.
DeleteThat looks great! I'm looking forward to hearing the bird count in detail. Looks like you were having lots of fun, even if not all that aerobic. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat place looks fabulous. Think I would have been temped to stay longer. Hope it wasn't too much of a shock when you got back.
ReplyDeleteWow that is a truly epic sunset indeed...
ReplyDeleteWhat a super vacation. Warm, relaxing and no stress!
ReplyDeleteSome Florida warmth would feel pretty good right now. Weatherman says another cold front moving in our direction. Get ready. Not to change the subject but do you have trouble getting rooms and restaurants with a dog?
ReplyDeleteTriple AAA has a great book listing pet friendly motels across the country. It worked great. Also some restaurants but not many. As long as its not hot we leave Lily in the back of the Traverse with the window cracked and instructions to bark fiercly at anybody messing around....:)
DeleteEveryone does like to get home but it is always that with which you are leaving that makes it a torn emotion.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you got back to MN in time for some snow. Looks like such a great vacation place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice month for you guys.
ReplyDeleteThis bird watcher would have loved lounging on that deck with binoculars handy. Nice place for a good relaxing vacation with friends.
ReplyDeleteWow that is a long drive but worth it for the scenery!
ReplyDeleteThere is something about Gulf sunsets. They are so beautiful! Glad you had a wonderful month in Florida!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are home safe and sound ...but with many wonderful memories to warm you. Isn't it fun to get to places that are so different than those you are used to ? Glad you are back to blogging !
