The Fort by Bernard Cornwell
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow made a national hero out of him in his poem The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, written many years later just before the Civil War. Yet Revere was only one of many riders who went out on that fateful eve to warn "the British are coming." Even more surprising Revere was, later in the war, court martialed on charges of ineptitude, & dereliction of duty bordering on treason? To find another version of these factual events read The Fort by Bernard Cornwell. My review can be found in Troutbirder II. Click on Mark Twains picture above for the scoop.....

Interesting to hear that he was court martialed. Like most, I only know the surface details of Mr. Revere.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else was talking about a 16 year old girl who also did the same. love historical fiction
ReplyDeleteJust may have to pick this one up. Always looking for a good read and adding history only makes it better.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting, I never knew Paul Revere was court martialed.
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing to hear about Paul Revere. I wonder why they don't teach interesting things like that in schools. It would have made history more exciting and more real.
ReplyDeleteI just bought the book for hubby. Perhaps he'll let me read it as well.
ReplyDeleteAnother great review and book for me to read. Thank You!
