And we did after while with Captain Bob. Capt. Bob Montuoro was our personal airboat
tour guide of the Indian River County Marshlands. We were west of I-95 in Vero Beach in
his airboat. There were as many as 50 gators on a
hour long ride. Lots of birds too along with a few snakes and some exotic
plants. What a ride to cap our Florida vacation. Mrs. T. took over a hundred close ups. She, who is seriously petrified of many large animals. Except put a camera in her hands and all caution goes to the winds. I've had several experiences preventing her from chasing down grizzly bears. Alligators. No problem! Thus, she was never shy about leaning over the boat for some
close-ups….
And hey maybe you'd like to join along with us in singing the alligator song.....
Way to go, Mrs. T!! LOL. You're braver than I would be! Nice shots!!
ReplyDeletemrs. t sounds like a good woman!
ReplyDeleteAlligators give me the shivers, just to look at them. She is so gutsy! :-)
ReplyDeleteLots of fun, good to have you back Ray.
ReplyDeleteI have seen 'gators leap out of the water to nab a chicken someone was offering. Did anyone tell Mrs. T they did this kind of thing? And if not, why not?
ReplyDeleteJo, Stella and Zkhat
too close for comfort, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteGood place to visit. I am glad you didn't get eaten by an alligator and I don't think you would like eating one either, though I know that they do.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you had a marvelous trip; those photos are outstanding!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. I want to take an air boat ride! Wonderful!!!
Wow! Mrs T is both brave and a talented photographer. I get seasick but somehow managed to spend a summer taking photo ID shots of dolphins from a boat. I only got nauseous when I put down the camera. Look like a fine vacation!
ReplyDeleteWow!! An air boat ride? Great close-ups! She is so very brave!!
ReplyDeleteMrs. T. sounds wonderful! Now this is something I have never come across in Montreal. A gator! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI always used to buy Indian River grapefruit. My mom's uncles started an orange and grapefruit grove near Vero Beach in 1905! The uncles and my mom didn't mention gators. I got to visit Vero in 1954 and 1969. I'm sure there are few similarities now.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I once heard a copperhead, paused to lift my camera, but thought better of it and skedaddled instead!
ReplyDeleteI have total admiration for Mrs T. No way would I got near an alligator to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a good ride to experience. Not that I would ever bother with pictures. ;)
ReplyDeleteSee ya in awhile crocodile.
Eeeek! A little too close for comfort me things!

Umm...thinks...not things..honestly...too early to type. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can just see you hanging on to your wife as she leans a little closer to the dozing alligator which can come alive instantly.
ReplyDeleteProof positive that Ms T is a real photographer. Fearless when camera is in hand. Great photographs.
ReplyDeleteMrs. T was a great ship-mate on your trip down the river. Good photos. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteReminded me of the pics I took long ago of crocodiles on the Nile. Every one kept yelling at me to get back... finally someone grabbed me (a shameful act in a Muslim country) and pulled me to safety just seconds before the big jaws opened and snapped shut where my arm had just been. I bet Mrs T would have felt cheated as I did of a wonderful shot! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, gal!
