The big attraction. An eagle family doing its thing. Like many others, I've been mesmerized by watching it. Last week, I saw one of the parents (they take turns) pushing her little fuzz balls onto a cup of grass in the center of of the huge nest. The she/he settled slowly and carefully over them finally spreading her wings. What this all about I wondered. A few minutes later a strong wind came up followed by rain & sleet and finally snow. She knew.... and was ready.
If haven't already seen the amazing eagle family of Decorah, Iowa..... check it out at the following link. Give it a few seconds to "load."
It is interesting how references to this is showing up on various blogs and websites.
ReplyDeleteI'm an LC grad and I think I've been to that fish hatchery .
We woke to 1.5 " of new snow. :-( But it is above freezing so it should leave soon.
My mother (she lives in Maine) turned me on to these eagles. She says they are the best cam out there but now that there are so many viewers she can never get into the chat room. They are so neat I began watching them frequently and had a link on my sidebar for a while. If I lived closer I would take a trip. Actually, now that I think of it we have an aerie close by here I must go visit soon. It's not on cam though.
ReplyDeleteAmazing live look at the Eagle family. Have never seen a baby Eagle before. Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link: very interesting :)
ReplyDeleteI have been amazed at the number of people I have talked to glued to this site. It is real fun to watch, I saw the second hatch.
ReplyDeleteI watched an eagle cam in West Virginia for a while. It gets addicting! Love "spying" on nature.
ReplyDeleteNature is so amazing! While I have not watched this webcam for myself I have heard all about it on the news and from friends. Glad you are enjoying it so much. Thanks for your visit to my blog. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome. I love Bald Eagles and seeing a family of them around here quite often. I notice you say to give it a few seconds to let it load...... Unfortunately I am still stuck with dial-up so it might take a couple of days to load instead of seconds:) I will have to take laptop into town to get a fast connection. I love fishing for trout down in Decorah. It is beautiful down there and I always see eagles when I am down there. I like the French Creek area.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe my 16 year old son told me about the eagle cam and the huge hits? I told him there might be more birders than gamers out there.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I love Bald eagles, and have been watching another eagle cam the past few weeks at Turtle Bay in Redding, California. Two eaglets star in this production: http://www.turtlebay.org/eaglecam
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! From what I have heard this is the best Eagle cam around:)
ReplyDeleteThat's some "invasion of privacy"--but I like the way it makes it possible to observe without disturbing--I could imagine critter cams like this enabling school classes to "adopt" an animal.
ReplyDeletePS: the big gun show (and now a cow pie golf tourney too) is at Wisdom each August.
I've been watching this too. It's hard to tear one's self away. The huge 'audience' is encouraging as well - indicating that a significant portion of the human population IS interested in and caring about Wildlife.
ReplyDeleteThe eagles are the best reality tv out there in my book! :-)
ReplyDeleteScout says to say hello to Baron!
I've been watching the Decorah eagle cam for some time now--when the eaglets were smaller and people were worried about eaglet #3since it was so much smaller than its siblings. But it was born several days later and I've seen one of the parents make sure it gets fed. But I LOVE that you saw one of the parents get the "kids" ready for the storm--before it hit! Wonder how they sense the change. I saw them the day of the snowstorm. Broke my heart. But all survived!
