Barb

Barb had a breast cancer diagnosis shortly before we were to leave for Arizona. We determined visiting the grands was the best cure option in the short run. The day after Christmas we returned to Minnesota and met the next day with the Mayo surgeon. The next day a double mastectomy was successfully performed. I'm typing this now with the knowledge every thing seemed good (limited ) and chemotherapy may not be necessary. No radiation either. We're very encouraged. Amazingly Barb was up that very evening and was given permission, the next day, to go ahead and return home. While under medical instructions to keep a low profile for a few weeks, she is already giving me orders on what to do in the domestic field as well as my home nursing duties. We see the surgeon next Tues and the Oncologists on Jan 9th.

  15. Sending prayers and well wishes to Barb. No chemo or radiation- that is very good news!! Mr. T - now you be on your best behavior and do what you are told by Barb:) Please let me know if there are any questions I might answer as my nursing certification is in oncology. Although far from an expert, I have many years of experience working in that field. I can give you my new email address if you ever need it.

  17. I knew that Barb was one tuff cookie when she had the knee surgery. Looks like her courage came through for her again. I am impressed. I hope things go well for you, Mrs. Troutbirder. Ray, I'm glad you are stepping up to the plate for homecare nursing and homemaking.

I will keep both of you in my thoughts and pray that you have the very best possible outcome.

  22. It sounds like your beautiful wife is being very well taken care of. I believe in such cases it is always good for the hubby to give extra back rubs, hand massages, and pretty much any other thing the wife asks for. And of course, the hubby vacuuming is always good medicine too. ;)

Sending lots of love and best wishes that your sweetie pie is back in the pink soon! hugs!
    xoxo Catherine

  23. I'm glad to hear that Barb's surgery went well and she is now home. Hopefully the return visits to the doctor and surgeon will confirm that all the cancer has been removed. I knew Betsy was on the mend after surgery when she daily started adding to my 'Honey Do' list.
