John & Joanne |
We recently returned from a short mini-vacation with our friends John and Joanne to the adjacent cities of Sault St. Marie Michigan and Ontario. There we took in the famous Sault locks and a day long train ride north into the Canadian wilderness. Hop aboard the train with us.....
Unfortunately, midway on the trip, a medical emergency took place and it was several hours before an ambulance could arrive on one of the few roads that crossed the tracks.
We made a several hour stop to see the falls in the beautiful Agawa Canyon. A late summer drought had turned it into a trickle. It had been many years since I'd taken a train ride. All in all it was a lot of fun....

Oh, I'd love that train ride! Maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteI hope the medical emergency turned out all right. What a fine trip! Thanks for the great pictures.
ReplyDeletethat train looks like a lot of fun
ReplyDeletei hope the person needing the medical transport is okay. how scary.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love trains.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great train ride! They should have had someone trained in emergency medical treatment on board..right? I suppose you were out in the middle of nowhere..or you could see it from there. It is good to get away:)
ReplyDeleteHope the person was okay. The last time I took a hike up the side of a mountain and thought it was going to kill me, I wondered how long it would take them to get me down. Grateful I didn't have to find out.
ReplyDeleteThis train ride looks like the way to go! Beautiful.
I very much want to travel by train. Looks like you had some wonderful scenery.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like fun! It's nice you can get out and do those types of things.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip! I've always wanted to ride a train. I bet Ontario was pretty!

Looks like the scenery was just beautiful. Hope the medical emergency was OK in the end.
ReplyDeleteWe had a trip to Agawa booked one year and made it to the Soo. The motel where we were staying then informed us that the line was down for repair. Fortunately, the trip was part of another one, so we didn't drive all that way for nothing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The elevated train makes me think of Harry Potter. I hope the emergency wasn't fatal.
ReplyDeleteI love a train ride. I grew up on trains it seems. We rode them a lot because we had passes since my father worked for the railroad. I'm glad you had a nice trip. I'm sorry the trip was delayed by a medical emergency. Hopefully the person was ok.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about the emergency, but Grenville would have enjoyed the train ride. We take them wherever we travel.
ReplyDeleteAh, good ole train rides remind me of living in Germany and our many train rides throughout Europe! Great way to travel and so safe over there. Yikes on the medical emergency. Hope all turned out well....
ReplyDeleteWe did the circle route of Lake Superior in 2010, so we decided to not take that train, due to the amount of time it would take. But I'm sure we missed something special. The trip was special anyway.
