R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that I must pass on the news that Baron our beloved GSD had to be put down yesterday.  Baron persevered for almost eight years in spite of malformed elbow joints in the front legs and chronic arthritis. All that knew him saw a gentle giant whose passions were to romp in the woods and have his ears scratched. He had admirers everyplace he went including the internet.   With tears I can only write “R.I.P. my best buddy.”

  9. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. These critters become a major part of our life and it's hard to let them go. My daughter put down her 14 year old schnauzer last month. It was hard.

  13. I am so so sorry my friend! Losing our beloved four legged friends is hard on our heart. They take a piece of it when they leave. I am thinking your sweet Baron lived a very good life filled with lots of love and attention. A well loved pup is a happy pup indeed.

Sending you big hugs and many warm thoughts.

  21. I'm so sorry to hear this. I've always enjoyed reading about Baron's adventures, and how loved he was. It's a difficult thing that dog years are so short. As I look at our own McGee and how he has gone from pup to adult dog so quickly, it's hard to think of the kids having to say goodbye to him down the road. Baron was sure lucky to have you.

  22. RIP good friend Baron. He was such a good companion, you and Mrs T must be hurting so very much. BUT I am certain you did the right thing..hard, hard decisions to make when you are a pet owner and animal lover.
My sympathy, he left many paw prints all over especially on your blog readers hearts..sending a hug for you:(

  39. What sorrow it is to lose such a loyal companion. As an owner of a large dog with whom I have a great bond. I know of your sense of loss. Even now I anticipate the loss of my dog for they do not live very long. She is still in good health but I fear the day I will not have her anymore.

  43. oh I so feel your pain. I just buried 2 little boys this spring. OK, they were cats, but they were like shadows- one followed me everywhere outside, one was in my lap all the time in the house... Rascal was 9, Punkin 15. Both love bugs.
I am so sorry - I know how it hurts.

  45. Ugh, I'm so sorry about this, I am behind in blog reading so am just catching up on yours and even though this happened a few weeks ago I imagine your pain is still raw. As he was a great companion and friend to you, you were a great and kind leader and companion to him as well, right to the end. Again, sorry for your loss.

  46. Oh no, I'm SO sorry. I can only say, I know what it's like, I've been through it with several beloved furry friends, or really I should say, family members. You must be reeling. May you find solace knowing that he is in no pain now. My heart is with you and Mrs. T and even Simba.

  47. I read with great sadness the comment you left about losing Baron. I am sending my belated condolences. It is so hard to have to put down a beloved pet like Baron. He was a beauty, and a lover too.

We had to put down our beloved Buster, a golden retriever, just three days after the death of my daughter Julie. It was quite a shock when he collapsed and we learned he had cancer. It seemed like sadness on top of sadness and more than we could bear. A dog can not be compared to a child, but those dogs sure do fill in a gap after the loss of a child. Hold on to the beautiful memories that you have of this dearly loved companion.

  48. Oh my... as you realized I have been away from blogging for quite some time. One of the first things I did was to look for Baron. When I didn't see him a few days ago on current posts, I started to have those terrible nagging feelings... I went looking for him...and found this post... I am just so so sorry... you know how much I adored him. My heart just goes out to you... he was a magnificent dog and I feel certain that his will be one of those cold noses that will greet us all at the pearly gates...
My belated condolences to you and your whole family. I'm so sorry I didn't realize at the time...
With an understanding heart in how hard it is to loose a canine member of the family and much love,
    Ann
