For safety reasons I sold our bikes on Craigs List last week. With the ups and downs of life we come to many crossroads and choices. Health is often the reason. Still, we look ahead find new avenues of interest and keep going. Here at Lake Louise State Park, Mower County near Leroy, Minnesota.....
I hear you. I also gave my bike away last year, feeling it was time. Sending you big virtual hugs, TB. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey make those three wheeler bikes, I have seen many people with them. You are correct health concerns change our entire lives. Not much fun to get older, BUT we try to make the best of it! Hello to Mrs TB and Lily:)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the two of you will find other ways to get into mischief.
ReplyDeleteHi Troutbirder, You are so right about the ups and downs of life. Wishing you the best as you move down the new avenues. Sure want to thank you for the kind comment about the Yellowstone Motorist Manual from 1920. Fascinating to hear that your dad drove through the Park in '28. Wondering if you have plans to visit YNP this coming summer? Wishing you a fine week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI find it to be better that I stay off the bike anymore. I deliberately push my lawn mower around to keep me in better shape. Lots of things change as we grow older but the ability to stay on the living and doing part is the most important thing.
ReplyDeleteI would like to have a tandem.
ReplyDeleteAt 76 , I haven't given up my bike yet. I've already ridden over 60 miles and hope to do 700 - 800 miles this summer.
ReplyDeleteLiving in the Ozarks took all the fun out of biking for me. Now I my bike is a stationary one and goes no where. We do adjust.
ReplyDeleteGreat attitude. I agree with Arkansas Patti -- we do adjust. My granddaughter has my vintage Schwinn -- good to know she likes it. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteOur bikes have been in storage since the late '80s. I can certainly vouch for health being a factor to many choices and changes in my life. I'm just grateful to wake up each day.
ReplyDeleteOur roads aren't safe for cyclists, least-ways elderly ones. I can't remember when I stopped cycling. Your picture is lovely, that's what we need now ... peace and quiet in lovely surroundings.
ReplyDeleteWe have a couple of bikes that don't get used as well as cartop carriers for them. One hates to part with them, but ...
ReplyDeleteI have mixed feelings about that. Seeing that picture of you wearing the cast made me cringe. I was kind of hoping you'd sell the bike or the camera.

ReplyDeleteThere is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven"
We are about to give away three bikes we haven't used in 30 years. I guess it was never about health reasons, but we have finally realized that now we couldn't ride them even if we wanted to!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is sad. Well, maybe you can still walk/hike and get out and about. I hope so.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that. My mom is 90 and has just moved out of her home and into my sister's. Her big concern is what to do with her bike? She hasn't rode it for years, attempted to ride it as a stationary bike a year ago. I'm glad you were able to sell them and not hold onto them to collect dust and rust.
