My first "Designer Dog"

In the days before Designer Dog" became the rage and very expensive they were known as "Mutts" and not so pricey.  My grandchildren have several Labradoodles...  Our first dog back in the mid sixties was a cross between a Golden Retriever and a German Shorthaired Pointer. His name was Max.

Max flushed, retrieved, point and pretty much taught me how to successfully hunt pheasants and  grouse. He did it all.

  1. Well. sometimes people train the dog and sometimes the dog trains the people.

  2. -ditto- Red's remark.
I never got around to exploring the full extent of my dog's many talents.

  3. Max the Wonder Dog sounds like he was every bit just that: a wonder. :-)

  4. There is no loss than that of a good dog (or cat). There are just some animal friends that we will miss forever. Sounds like Max was a great dog.

  5. What a handsome fellow Max was. Love the picture of him being cradled like a child. We never forget them do we?

  8. What a cute looking character! Have you also noticed that some 'designer dogs' come with a plethora of health issues? My daughter has a 'Max,' and he is just the cutest/weirdest little rescue pup I've ever known. :)

  9. I love the cartoon! And I totally agree with you about the expensive "designer" dogs. Some of their names are ridiculous. Your Max sounds like a great dog. But then you have been really lucky with several great dogs, haven't you? Just like we have.

  10. Aw, Max looks like a great friend. What would we do without our little furry buddies? Love the cartoon. I think perhaps we all could use one of those from time to time. :)
