Return to Duty

In the words of General MacArthur who promised fleeing the Philippines, under duress " I shall return" and did so....well here I am ready to go.  Barb is still in St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester recovering from her  broken arm and soon to return to "memory care." So far so good. I'm doing ok as the adjustment to living alone begins. I do have a new technological device which will help me blog called Dragon. I'm really excited about it as when I talk to it and it types for me on the screen. This is now called "word process". It's gonna take a while to catch on to it but with a little practice....
Here a sample of the first time I tried it.

Latin is a dead language. Dead as it can be. First it killed  the Romans and now it killing me....
(Read by me from  the back of Barb's old high school Latin text)

  1. I had a doozie of a time getting it to work when they first came out. Had a hearing impaired student who used it for lectures.Word command like underline mixed with underlying and then Oh $&&*#\. Have you both in my prayers.

  2. I have a friend who loves it. My fingers are becoming so silly about typing, I'm thinking about it.
Glad you are stable at home, and hope you find the cooking satisfactory (my objection to being single).

  3. This brings me back more than 15 years, trying to set up Dragon for a sight impaired person. We couldn't get it to work for her then, or maybe I should say for her to work with it.

  4. I've spent way too much time in St. Mary's so I hope your wife's stay is brief.I've not heard of Dragon. I'm not the best when it comes to new technology. If what I'm doing isn't broken, I tend to not waiver. Glad to see you are back to writing.

  7. Good to 'see' you again. It's been a while and I wondered.....

Never heard of this Dragon you talk about. I wouldn't mind hearing more about it. Sad news about your wife's arm but I hope she is bearing where possible up in her environment.

  8. I have just returned from my vacation and missed the story about your wife's arm. I'm glad it's healing and she will soon be able to return to her usual surroundings. I never heard of Dragon but I will check it out now. :-)

  9. Glad your wife's arm is healing all right. I have never heard of Dragon and will be interested how it works for you.
I took Latin and that quote made me smile. So true.

  10. I've heard that Dragon has trouble with some accents. Not that Minnesotans have accents, you understand. Glad to hear Mrs. T is healing well. It must be especially troublesome for her to uprooted for a while. Change is especially difficult for those with memory deficits.

  13. Hi Ray - I'm pleased things appear to be settling down for you both - and you particularly are adjusting, as best you can. Dragon works well I gather ... so good luck with that; I know blogging helped me through when my mother was so ill for 5+ years - not the same ... but you'll get that focus with your memoirs for your children and grandchildren ... glad you're going to be recording them. All the very best - cheers Hilary
