Hello, Boss
I can't come to work today. A moose was born on my front lawn and the Mama won't let us out the front door! We’ll not exactly but the baby moose was born
on a residential yard in Anchorage Alaska.
The homeowner did provide mom and babe some water and per the advice of
the Alaskan DNR waited patiently till the moose family moved on two days later….
The above story is true as verified by Snopes. Urban legends had the story in Michigan and
several other states….:)
I've seen this one claiming it was in Michigan. I didn't think it was...I'm glad there's Snopes (I'm pretty sure they're REALLY busy, too!).
ReplyDeleteSweet photos!
Wouldn't that be something to see in your front yard? So sweet!
ReplyDeleteThey're sure tiny when they're born! But then, look out!! When we lived in Fairbanks, they'd come right into town and lay down outside the Library window.
ReplyDeleteOh my stars! Adorable! Isn't nature just the most amazing thing!

Awwww! That is just the cutest thing. Every baby is adorable, but this one is especially so. Thanks for taking the time to find the pictures and post them! :-)
ReplyDeleteI lived in Anchorage for several years, and this was not unknown at all. Not the giving birth, but venturing into town for grass, bushes and peoples vegetable gardens. Also, on the edge of town that borders the Chugach Mtns, brown bears have been seen in neighborhoods. Also, in recent years there have been bear attacks within the city limits.
ReplyDeleteThe common saying back then was the nice thing about Anchorage is that you could drive to Alaska from there.
Wherever it was, it's a lovely sight. Thank you for sharing Ray. xo
ReplyDeleteThere are moose in the UP of Michigan, however, I believe they stay in the woods rather than the residential areas...when we visited Anchorage, we were surprised to see how close they lived with the people in the city...
ReplyDeleteCool..I am sure Chance would hate those visitors..the wily whitetails are coming right through his yard..and he hates it:(
ReplyDeleteWOW, no that would be a great excuse to miss work!!
ReplyDeletehow precious! she must have felt very safe there!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this one... can you even imagine???
ReplyDeleteWow! What a photo op as well as a good excuse to stay home!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos but I reposted them on my blog maybe 4 or 5 years ago after someone emailed them to me. Nothing dies on the internet.
ReplyDeleteAwwww....love these photos!
ReplyDeletewonderful photos of mom and baby. And a very good plan not to go out the front door while Mom was hanging around.
