Moose On The Loose

Hello, Boss
I can't come to work today.   A moose was born on my front lawn and the  Mama won't let us out the front door!  We’ll not exactly but the baby moose was born on a residential yard in Anchorage Alaska.  The homeowner did provide mom and babe some water and per the advice of the Alaskan DNR waited patiently till the moose family moved on two days later….
The above story is true as verified by Snopes.  Urban legends had the story in Michigan and several other states….:)

  1. I've seen this one claiming it was in Michigan. I didn't think it was...I'm glad there's Snopes (I'm pretty sure they're REALLY busy, too!).
    Sweet photos!

  3. They're sure tiny when they're born! But then, look out!! When we lived in Fairbanks, they'd come right into town and lay down outside the Library window.

  6. I lived in Anchorage for several years, and this was not unknown at all. Not the giving birth, but venturing into town for grass, bushes and peoples vegetable gardens. Also, on the edge of town that borders the Chugach Mtns, brown bears have been seen in neighborhoods. Also, in recent years there have been bear attacks within the city limits.
The common saying back then was the nice thing about Anchorage is that you could drive to Alaska from there.

  8. There are moose in the UP of Michigan, however, I believe they stay in the woods rather than the residential areas...when we visited Anchorage, we were surprised to see how close they lived with the people in the city...
