Rose Breasted Grosbeak

They are one of my favorite birds. They are not daily visitors at my feeder, but pop in and out all summer. Once a whole migrating flock stopped by to feed in the spring. More than a dozen at once.
 What a sight that was!
Three guys and a gal.
Female Rose Breasted Grosbeak and four friends.  She apparently likes the corn for lunch...:)

  8. We love our Rose Breasted Grosbeaks. They do like the tray feeder like you have, but the darn red squirrels as well as the bear and raccoon, means we just can't have a "big trough" for a feeder. The current feeder does work for the RBGB, but they seem too big for it, but at least its away from tge other critters. RBGB sing like a robin who has had opera lessons. We are north central St Louis Co in Mn.

  9. One of my favorites as well. We have them for a week or so during the Spring and again during the Fall migration. Then they move along.

  11. Gorgeous photos, as always, TB. I have enjoyed scrolling through a number of your recent posts and particularly enjoyed seeing and hearing about your journey in Ireland--looks like a wonderful, fun, and enriching time.

  13. The rose-breasted grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) is a large seed-eating grosbeak in the cardinal family (Cardinalidae). It is primarily a foliage gleaner.
