Mystery Flower

We are deep in the Minnesotian jungle. Lost! Fighting for survival. The plants tower above us. Huge white flowers peer down at us. WHAT ARE THEY????

Ok maybe its not the jungle but it sure looks like it from this angle. I hear a rescue helicopter approaching and I will provide an overhead view to make this a lot easier. In the meantime, can you identify this jungle like plant? Give it a try!

  1. I can't see the foliage well enough to be sure but they look like May apple blossoms (or maybe up there in the northwoods you call them mid-June apples;) The English called them mandrake and English folklore says they scream when pulled from the ground. Some to those folk tales will creep you out.

  2. Hi TB, I have no idea what your big white blooms are--but they are pretty. I'll keep checking back to see if you can get an answer.

Glad you like Mr. Lincoln... It is an older rose---but still as gorgeous as all of the newer ones. We have 48 different Hybrid Tea Rose Bushes in our yard.. Wish you could see them all. They SMELL so fragrant.

By the way, I have two crazy Brown Thrashers. They LOVE my suet feeder --but can't climb around on it like the woodpeckers can. So funny to watch them--reaching down from the top. Aren't Thrashers supposed to be ground feeders??? Nobody told these two!!!! ha

Love the photos and like the other's I have no clue what they are....maybe they should develop into a story of some sort!

  6. Hi TB,

I've studied your lovely pics, and think this might just be a close-up, of squash plants. I'd go so far as to say zucchini.

    Am I close?

  7. The umbrella leaves do look like mayapple, but it's been awhile. Oh, I can still recall the taste of the delicious fruit, though.

  8. Mayapple is the most likely possibility. I found some info on it here:

I miss hiking in the woods. It's already hot as Hades here, but the weatherman said the high pressure system holding pattern is keeping the hurricanes at bay. So I say bring on the heat!
