A week ago in the same spot it was a Say’s Phoebe well east of it western range.
Like other phoebes, the rusty-bellied Say's Phoebe is common around people, often nesting on buildings. A bird of open country, it is found from Alaska through Mexico. Say's Phoeb
Small songbird; medium-sized flycatcher.
Upperparts pale brownish gray.
Belly and undertail cinnamon. Wags tail.

ReplyDeleteHow nice that "lifers" came to you and you didn't have to hunt them.
ReplyDeletelovely little bird, I have seen it a few times
ReplyDeleteNice place to get some shots!
ReplyDeleteHave never seen a Say's Phoebe. Beautiful! By the way, your print on your blog is too tiny for me to read! lol Must be getting old.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if this is the bird who has adopted us the past few summers and built a nest on our porch.
ReplyDeletePretty little thing! It must be a lucky pond! No Lakes in Fillmore County..hard to believe when we have so many lakes..the glaciers missed that county!:)
ReplyDeleteI do like the new picture on your blog - catching a nice fish. I hope he was a tasty dish.
ReplyDeletePretty amazing to find birds so far out of their normal range. I suppose a small farm pond is fine if there are no lakes in the county.
ReplyDeleteAbout a week ago I had a baby black capped chickadee at my window feeder...sooo precious. He was waaaay to quick for me to grab the camera but it was a rare treat for me.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one before.
I always love your pictures!!!
Have yourself a perfectly blessed day!!! :o)
I wonder what makes that farm pond so popular with birds that normally aren't there? Perhaps it's the lack of a lake in the county? Regardless, congratulations on your three lifers in this spot.
ReplyDeleteNice finds! The flycatcher we see in our area looks very similar.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog re: Goering's famous quote. I love to have "new" readers. I also jumped over to your other blog and agree that all the updates by Blogger are annoying ! I'll keep coming back to get your eye's view on nature.
