One of my favorite camping sites is Swan Creek Campground. It is located in the scenic Gallatin Canyon, on the Bozeman Ranger District of the Gallatin National Forest, in southwestern
Montana. It is thirty one miles south of Bozeman. The Gallatin Canyon was always a great fishing
venue for myself and my sons. Highway 191 from Bozeman to West Yellowstone can
be very busy and noisy but the campsite is some distance from the road and very
quiet. The campground sits next to scenic Swan Creek, a tributary of the Gallatin River. A beautiful, dense forest of spruce and fir
trees covers the campground. After a good nights sleep in the cool temps of
5000 plus feet, we headed up a hiking trail birding and hoping to see other
wildlife at the “beaver meadow” some distance and 500 feet above our campsite.
Come on along as we head up the trail….
Beautiful scenery and the cool temps sound heavenly!!!ReplyDelete
pretty area - agree w/ ms. a. cooler temps sound nice about now!ReplyDelete
Oh, I LOVE that drive from Bozeman to West Yellowstone along the river - one of the prettiest out there! We're always in such a hurry to get to the park we've not explored the by-ways at all, except for Hebgen Lake-Quake Lake, which are fascinating.ReplyDelete
One of the advantages of retiring out there is we should have plenty of time to do some good National Forest hiking. We hope to have a dog - not just any dog, but KLK has his heart set on a GSD! They're not allowed on the trails in the National Parks, but no problem in the National Forests. Sigh...I can hardly wait until that day comes!
Great place! It's been so hot here - and the milder temps would attract me!ReplyDelete
That looks so heavenly to me! It is hot/humid here and without that scenery!ReplyDelete
Gorgeous and sounds just about perfect in every way!ReplyDelete
very nice area, been a while since I have worn a jacketReplyDelete
What a marvelous place to walk. Cool temps and the desire to go outside for a walk, are becoming almost forgotten dreams lately.ReplyDelete
Thanks for reminding us of what can be.
Beautiful place. I've only been to the Bozeman area in winter, back in my downhill skiing days. I think it might be a September destination for me.ReplyDelete
It looks and sound inviting, except for the busy road!ReplyDelete
What a wonderful spot for camping and hiking. No wonder it's a favorite of yours.ReplyDelete
That looks like a terrific spot to camp and watch for wildlife. I like that creek!ReplyDelete
I hope you got to see lots of fine feather friends and other fun critters!
I'm so glad you left a comment on my blog--I lost all my blogs, etc when I made some changes. I always enjoyed your posts, and am glad to have discovered them anew. Thank you!ReplyDelete
We were in Montana this past June for the first time in years and it's as beautiful as ever!!
Wow, I have really been missing some beautiful posts of areas to the north haven't I? I must figure out how to change these settings so I will be notified of new posts...I feel like such an amateur blogger(!)ReplyDelete
