Big
I've had five dogs three modestly large hunting dogs. Max the lab who taught me how to train retrievers and Chessie and Muffy the Chesapeake's. Then after I retired from hunting came Baron and now Lily both GSD's. Baron was huge. He could easily rest his head on our dining table. Lovable and gentle, people who first met him were often apprehensive to say the least. Once racing thru some tall grass a young couple told me they mistook him for a llama...:)

Absolutely...Big dogs, Big hearts!
ReplyDeleteHe was a good friend to you, I am certain you miss him everyday:)
ReplyDeleteMorning, love Barron, big dogs are awesome!!!!! Well,I love dogs period💙Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteOh I am sure you miss him so much. I miss my two dogs and they have been gone for a long time now. Take care. B
ReplyDeleteThe largest dog we ever had it the border collie that we have now. I had not planned on him to be larger when we got him as a pup. He seems really small though when he next to a German Shepherd or other large dogs. Baron was a beautiful guy and big too.
ReplyDeleteHe was truly a handsome and wonderful companion. You were lucky to have him in your life.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you home----isn't the winter bad enough to run away this year? Thought you'd be heading for warmer parts by now....
Now those are some HUGE dogs. Love them all. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who has TWO Mastiffs! She keeps a pile of bar towels at the door and hands one to each guest. Just in case there is slobber involved.
ReplyDeleteWe get to know our dogs very well and they figure us out too no matter if they're large or small.
ReplyDeleteYou two had some great adventures. That reminds me, I'll have to read my newest granddaughter Baron's book - about the GSD and the duck.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful dogs!
ReplyDeleteBaron is a beautiful dog....!
ReplyDeleteI like you have had many dogs over the years. What you say about large dogs is true -- they have big hearts -- and sweet personalities. I'm sure you are enjoying Lily -- yet still have a special spot for Baron. -- barbara
ReplyDeleteDogs are such a special part of our lives and no doubt each of yours were. So glad you have Lily. While one can never take the place of another, they sure can help to fill the holes left in our hearts when those we've loved have gone on.
ReplyDeleteI saw a poodle lab mix the other day I thought was a light colored deer at first.I see him every week now going to the same park on Saturdays. He pushed the back window out of his owners Toyota wanting fresh air.
ReplyDeleteI love big dogs. This pics are great!
ReplyDeleteI had an awesome GSD named Marcus. Now I have a lab, who admittedly seems a bit retarded at times in comparison. But I love him anyway :)
ReplyDeleteMy niece and nephew have a bullmastiff. He's a gentle soul.
ReplyDeleteWow...that is a beautiful dog! I'm sure you miss him every single day. It's hard to lose an animal friend.
ReplyDeleteomgoodness all "very big" all "very beautiful"!!! i must admit that large dogs often frighten me!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a handsome fellow Baron was. I have had a couple of Danes and you are right. Thebig boys are usually gentle giants.
ReplyDeleteMy, those are some big dogs! No matter how gentle, I'm pretty sure my cat would hide if she saw one of them coming!
ReplyDeleteYour best budlooks like a very good friend indeed.
Thanks for that post. When I've visited shelters most of the dogs there were big dogs. Big and sad looking, it seemed to me anyway, wondering where they were, wondering who I was.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Boston Terrier...a little dog with a big heart. :-) She will fight to the death to protect her family.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of your best friends. :-))
He was certainly a very handsome beast. I love dogs too.
ReplyDeleteHi Troutbirder, What a great looking dog you have. You are so right ... big dog, big heart. A neat post here indeed. By the way, it was neat to hear about your interest in Stereoviews. Thanks for the comments there!
ReplyDeleteMy husband loved dogs ... the bigger the better for him! You look very happy with your buddy.
ReplyDeleteWe hosted an assortment of dogs throughout my children`s childhood, but no more dogs for me now. However both my sons have a family dog, (Tessa the dainty golden doodle and Badger the enormous mutt who looks like a wolf) and I love taking them out for a walk and looking after them if the family needs a weekend away.
ReplyDeleteBaron and you made quite a team.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness. Huge dogs. Thinking they did not sleep on your bed.
