To the North, our woods, adjacent to the field.
Our friend and neighbor farmer Dick is probably scouting ahead the big machinery making sure everything else is ready to go....
View from our back yard...
From hopper to bin then off to the elevator....
Miss Lily comes out to check out the commotion but quickly decides she's seen it before and begins looking for the elusive chipmunk under our deck!!!!
I imagine that being so close to the field, Lily will find a few mousies running for cover.
ReplyDeleteHi Troutbirder - it's amazing how quickly the harvest can be gathered in once the weather and crops are 'right' ... lovely views - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteFor people who have a farm background, harvesting is an enjoyable time of year.
ReplyDeleteThe weather plays a big part in our lives, doesn't it? I would love to have such views outside my house.
ReplyDeleteToo often we take those packages of food in the grocery store for granted. It is quite a process from the seed to the table. You have a front row seat.
ReplyDeleteGood to see Mis lily! Hope you and Mrs TB are well. Harvest of corn came to a halt up here too much snow:)
ReplyDeleteYou sure do live in a delightful place. And to see the harvest happen right in front of your house is pretty cool! :-)
ReplyDeleteStill a few in the fields yesterday while I drove around. I would love to drive a combine, but never get many takersLOL.I am finishing harvesting my leaves.
ReplyDeleteAmazing when you think of how harvesting crops has become so mechanized and easy. I do love reading about the old-time harvest days.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful place to see all the harvesting being done. Miss Lily came out to snoopervise, but that chipmunk got her attention. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful rest of your holiday week.
