Snowblower

Although it may be just a tad early to draw any final conclusions, I do believe we've turned the corner towards spring. Several days of Seattle type weather with rain, forty degree termperatures and fog have reduced the four foot snow piles to remnants. My concrete driveway has appeared from underneath the ice for the first time in months. Yes, I do believe the snowblower here may have completed its last clearing operation on my driveway for this winter. :)

  1. Officially into mud-season here in the Adirondacks. Ahhhh.... the breeze smells like spring!

  2. I remember a scene just exactly like that photo. Me following the plow thru the mountains of central Oregon. Followed another one like that thru the pass on I80 in Wyoming in JUNE one year.

I hope you are right and winter is done with us for this year.

  3. Maybe you are forgetting the April snowstorms of a couple of years ago. I don't forget that because of the heart-pumping ride home from a wedding we attended and the retreat that was canceled.

  4. Fun photo. Well, should there be snow from here on out, it shouldn't last long!! :-)

  5. I don't know if I would "officially" hide the snowblower away quite yet, but then again I have been wrong before, LOL

  8. What a winter it has been for so much of the country! Even here in North Florida, we have had below normal temps for several months and more freezes than usual. You must be thrilled to see that driveway again.

I responded to your comment on my blog (thank you for visiting and commenting) regarding your upcoming trip to FL, but realized you probably won't see the response. Short version: if you have time, you may want to look into a visit to a less populated island than Sanibel or to a preserve for optimal birding.

Thanks for your LBJ post--very cool--and informative.

  11. Yesterday was the first day I saw my cleared driveway. What a lot of snow this year. It made a very long winter and a very wet spring to follow. This is why we love living in MN!!! There is alway something to talk about, weather!

  13. I've been watching some videos from Glacier National Park and see a lot of scenes like this. Such pretty clean snow, not the dirty snow of the city.

  14. Hoping that snow blizzard is gone! Looking forward to spring days! I bet Baron is anxious for the warm weather too! By the way - I have this funny german shepherd sign that I took a photo of that I think you'd like. It's on my log cabin blog - the dog show posting.

  16. Hi Troutbirder! I just checked Surfbirds. The wood thrushes are arriving in Nashville, as well as the tree swallows.I almost wept with joy. Barn swallows nest in the parking sheds at my apartment. They should be here soon. Nashville is weary of winter.

  17. You are probably in Florida right now enjoying the sunshine and warmth, and by the time you get back home, the piles of snow will exist only in pics like this one. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  18. Hi! Wow... I was just thinking the same thought passing by our snowblower in the garage today... too early to put away? Here in upstate, NY... probably!
but... oh do I wish these temperatures would last!
Hope you're getting some spring breezes your way!

  19. Photo looks like clearing the road in Glacier Park? Sometimes shoveling the front walk seems that way!
