Dreaming In Color

I was awakened early this morning by the persistent nudging of our cat Simba. He wanted breakfast. It has been said that dogs have owners and cats have staff. I'm on Simbas staff. Simba means lion in Swahili. Rudely awakened, he looks to me pretty much like the adjacent picture.
Later, I looked out the bedroom window at a cold and bleak landscape.
Quite a stark contrast to the colorful dream I'd been having shortly before being awakened. You see my dream had taken me back several weeks to our Florida vacation where some of the trees were already in spring bloom and the flowers...... Here's my dream in the warm green, red, blue, yellow rainbow colors of Florida in mid February.

Hmmmm. Maybe I'll go back to bed and dream some more.

  1. Such beautiful flora from Florida.

Oh, and I moved my blog back to Blogger just so it's easier for you to comment. I know Wordpress was giving you fits. ;)

    Have a great day, Ray!

  2. I hear you about cats and their staff. It's all my hubby and I can do to wait on our three cats!!!

Lovely photos to brighten my morning. Those blanket flowers are so colorful and cheerful. We have been having highs in the 70s for the past week. I have even seen a few early blooming trees here in GA.

Hope you have a great day.

  3. A fellow I worked with just bought a home down there. When he first talked about it I wasn't sold on the idea, but it looks better and better.

  4. Yup, I'll take the dream any day. We still have winter here, but it's supposed to get up to +30 today. Hope so...

  8. My cat is the same way-I'm her staff and she has me and the dogs wrapped around her proverbial little finger. I hope you got back to sleep to have some more warm and colorful dreams. Outside looks too dull and cold.

  9. Thanks for the note - Guatemala. I was really impressed with Uruguay last early October - spring time there. I have no idea about Guatemala and what I will see. Uruguay is pretty tame, be sure to read the State Department travel warnings.

  10. Hey, apropos of nothing in the current post... I came across a link to a wonderful National Geographic article on research with domestication of canids and genotyping I think you'd enjoy

  12. Say! I have a little tip - I hope it works for you... (and for me). ;-) I've been spreading HOT cayenne red pepper around/in the birdseed. Squirrels have a very fine sense of smell and they can't stand it! (Birds cannot smell it.)
