The Spirit of Fall

As you can see on a recent hike my beloved began collecting leaves. I never know what that woman will come up with next.

  1. Beautiful colors and arrangement. Isn't it great living in a place that has all four seasons? Sometimes you just feel ready for a change, and the seasons fill that need.

  11. hey, perusing your blog i noticed mention of the Black Hills; u would enjoy Ranch Life and the Hunting Trail x TR, 1888 and Hunting Trips of a Ranchman, detailing his several years spent living on his Elkhorn Ranch where the ranch house back porch looked out on the river under the Cottonwoods. it was here TR realized that the west was becoming extinct but before he got over trying to kill everything he saw.
but he did get over his bloodlust and as u know became passionate in preserving nature, bringing the first enforcement of rules in Y Stone NP where u might have wet a fly. unfortunately his rules did not prevent stocking Lake "Trout" which have effectively killed off the Y Stone Lake Cutthroat trout population. i count myself lucky to have caught and released a boatload of native cutts on the river from Fishing Bridge down to Gardiner, Mt. from 1995 through 2010 and lapped a lip over several pork ribs at the Roosevelt Lodge looking out the window at Specimen Ridge after sensational days on the river with Janie.

  17. lovely array of nature's cast-offs - it reminds me of an autumn christmas tree - i'm collecting my own fallen leaves, as is usual for this time of year, but yours is a work of art!
