Remembering Baron: the puppy years

I had given up hunting upland game and waterfowl do to my increasing vertigo. Mrs. T informed me that walking in the woods, sloughs and plowed cornfields and falling with a loaded shotgun was not a good idea. The days of hunting with my retrievers were over. It was time to move in a different direction. The pups name was Baron. He was destined to be a giant GSD and my best buddy ever.

  1. Helluva dog, Ray. We get dogs like that, if we're lucky, once in a lifetime. Glad you had one. I did too, and he was a GRS too, named 'Kim', about the same size.

  2. A beautiful dog, and he would have been the same no matter where his ears went.
Go ahead, call Mike. His ears are OK, too.

  7. Baron was such a cute puppy, and then a big, handsome dog. I didn’t know GSs were born with their ears down and they stand up later. Good thing he grew into the size of them, too!

  9. Dear Troutbirder, when Dulcy died, the cat who was my "Baron," she gave me these words: "At the end, all that matters is love. My love for my human and hers for me. I have planted the memories of our life together in her heart. She will find them there when I am gone and they will comfort her."

I trust that your memories of such a wonderful friend and companion and buddy comfort you. Peace.
